Pōhatu Marine Reserve

Map of New Zealand showing the Canterbury region.

Pōhatu Marine Reserve is centred on Flea Bay, on the southeast side of Banks Peninsula.

Picnicking, swimming, boating, diving and photography are encouraged. So are educational and scientific activities, providing the reserve's plants and wildlife are not disturbed.

The marine reserve is ideal for a field trip. Students can enjoy and research our marine wildlife in its natural environment, and investigate arguments for and against marine reserves.
