Lake Okataina is 22km north-east of Rotorua.There are numerous walks in the Lake Okataina area, and the lake is safe for swimming.

This resource is designed to give you ideas for planning exciting and experiential learning activities outside the classroom at Lake Okataina.

It can be used alongside the Lake Okataina Scenic Reserve field trip resource, adding another dimension to your learning trip there. Alternatively, it could be used as a basis for studying and making comparisons with Lake Rotorua.
