Southland values survey

The Department of Conservation, in conjunction with the University of Waikato and the University of Queensland, ran the Southland Values Survey earlier in the year. The report summarises the different public values, experiences and development preferences for public conservation land within the Southland region. Thank you to all those who participated in the online survey.

Southland places survey

Earlier this year, we asked you to tell us what you find special about places in Southland, as part of the Conservation Management Strategy (CMS) consultation. We conducted an online survey on 11 places we consider to be special. Each place has special value for conservation, neighbouring communities and visitors.

This survey has closed and results will be posted on this site shortly.
