The Board of Inquiry into the NZCPS delivered its report and recommendations to the Minister of Conservation in May/June 2009. The Minister of Conservation is currently considering that report and recommendations and has not, at this stage, determind his intentions regarding the proposed statement.

The Proposed New Zealand Coastal Policy Statement 2008 is a proposed national policy statement under the Resource Management Act 1991. At this stage the proposed statement has no legal effect, nor can it be assumed to represent government policy.  The NZCPS 1994 is the operative NZCPS.
