We are in the process of identifying 'open' and 'controlled' dog areas on Canterbury's public conservation land and would like your feedback.

The discussion document 'Management of dogs on land administered by the Department of Conservation' was made available for public comment during spring 2008 (listed as a PDF file below).

This document was prepared as the initial step in identifying those areas of land, administered by the department, for use by dog walkers.

The document outlines and explains the reasoning behind the proposed classifications of either ‘open’ or ‘controlled’, and any conditions associated with those classifications. It includes a series of maps (listed below) to show the locations of these areas.
