Introduction

September - February each year Volunteer hosts are needed at Corner Creek, Waiohine Gorge, Putangirua Pinnacles, and Kiriwhakapapa campsites.

Location

The campsites are located around the Wairarapa area and are managed by tthe DOC Masterton office.

Tasks

  • Campsite ticket compliance and recording
  • Cleaning of the facilities
  • Providing information to visitors

What to expect

Skills and experience required: It is desirable that volunteers have a good knowledge of the outdoors and Wairarapa area. You must have good people skills, and knowledge of VHF radio would be advantageous 

Background checks and references may be required

Safety procedures: Approved volunteers must comply with the Department of Conservation Health and Safety Policy, and arrive prepared with appropriate amounts of food and warm/water proof clothing.

Orientation: Volunteers who are accepted will be required to attend an orientation briefing.

Accommodation: You need to provide your own. Holiday camper or tents are suitable.
