Heritage site upgrade

Vegetation removal from a number of heritage sites.

You can start anytime, and stay 2-12 weeks. Individuals and couples who wish to commit to a longer term position are encouraged to apply.

Track, hut and campground maintenance

This is an opportunity to gain a wide variety of practical experience working at a number of sites throughout Te Urewera.

Biodiversity monitoring

Monitoring of species is a key part of DOC’s work in the field. This project is an excellent opportunity to gain new skills working alongside experienced staff.

Start date and duration: Anytime - 2-12 weeks (except for the winter months)

Skills required: Good level of fitness. Monitoring experience would be useful.
