What's the course about?

The course describes:

  • the different elements used to describe heritage and the benefits of conserving it
  • the role DOC has in protecting and managing heritage and the relevant legislation it works under
  • the management system DOC uses to look after heritage on public conservation land.

Who is it for?

Anyone who works or wants to work or volunteer in heritage conservation, or anyone with an interest in heritage including:

  • DOC staff
  • volunteers
  • members of community groups, iwi and contractors.

Do I need to register?

If you are planning to attend a DOC field based course you should register your details before doing an online course.

Otherwise, you don't have to register your details, but it would be helpful to know who you are and why you are doing the course.
