Have your say on the Minister of Conservation's intention to grant a 30-year concession to Vodafone New Zealand Ltd to occupy part of a scenic reserve on Mitre Peak, Motu Kaikoura Island, Great Barrier Island. Submissions closed 2 February 2017.

The Minister of Conservation gives notice of her intention to grant a 30-year concession under section 17Q of the Conservation Act 1987 to Vodafone New Zealand Limited for a concession re-issue to occupy 64m² of a scenic reserve for existing telecommunication structures on Mitre Peak, Motu Kaikoura Island, Great Barrier Island.

The lease area (34m²) houses telecommunications equipment in a locked cabinet (fenced off) and the licence area (30m²) relates the mast immediately outside of the locked cabinet. The easement has a total length of 2,440m (existing tracks). The Motu Kaikoura Trust is the administering body to control and manage the reserve.

How to submit

Submissions close 2 February 2017. 

Any person or organisation may object in writing to the Director-General against the proposal or make written submissions on the proposal.

Note submitter’s information could be disclosed under the Official Information Act and submissions are part of the statutory process and may be commented on by the applicant.
