Kiwi 1080 death a fake

1080 activist Phillip Anderton posed for the New Zealand media in 2004 with a kiwi he claimed had been poisoned by 1080. An investigation revealed that Anderton lied to journalists and the public. He had used a kiwi that had been caught in a possum trap.

Extensive monitoring shows kiwi are not at risk from the use of biodegradable 1080 poison. Many kiwi, however, have been injured and killed in badly set possum traps.
