Nursery

Motukarara Conservation Nursery exclusively grows Canterbury native plants. Plants are propagated from seed collected from native remnants throughout the Canterbury region.

Sales

Seventy five per cent of the stock produced each year is sold to local bodies, community groups and individuals. Most of these sales are for restoration projects and are pre-ordered. Generally these projects are ongoing and a record of clients and projects is kept in a database.

A discount up to 25% on marked prices is available according to the conservation value of the projects and a "Discount Card" is issued that keeps a record of the different sales.

Gate sales are a very small portion of total sales. Visits to the nursery are often to obtain information, choose species and order plants. The guarantee of genetic purity and the availability of a wide range of local species is the main reason that clients choose DOC nursery plants over those from other nurseries.

Conditions of sale

The plants for sale have been selected to be of merchantable quality and true to name and description, but any expressed or implied conditions, statement or warranty in this respect is hereby excluded.

All plants were propagated at our nursery. They are sold as long as stocks last. They are subject to shortages caused by circumstances beyond our control. We will confirm their availability.

Orders must be followed by a deposit of 25% of the total value, with the balance payable on the collection of the plants.

No cancellations can be accepted after receipt and confirmation of your order. Plants can also be bought directly from our nursery. (EFTPOS and Credit Card facilities available).

Minimum mail/freight order is $50. Freight is paid by the purchaser. All goods are despatched at the purchaser's risk. We accept orders by phone, in writing or email.
