DOC's work with native fish
DOC surveys and monitors fish populations around New Zealand. Important whitebait spawning sites are fenced off from stock to prevent the whitebait eggs being trampled.
DOC staff around New Zealand are involved in planting and encouraging others to replant riparian vegetation along the edge of waterways.
