Toutouwai or North Island robin are returning to Moehau in the northern Coromandel Pennisula.
'Toutouwai - Robin's Return' is a project involving DOC, iwi, Moehau Environment Group (MEG) and the local community. The aim is to create a self-sustaining population of North Island robin and return the bird to part of their former home. Between February and May 2009 birds will released at two sites in the Moehau area.
