You can help

For the reserve to return to its natural state and become a better place to visit, make sure you comply with the reserve rules.

Report any distressed, injured or dead wildlife to the Department of Conservation.

No rubbish facilities are provided. Take all your rubbish away with you.

If you catch a tagged fish or rock lobster (crayfish/koura) - outside the reserve of course - return the tag and catch information to DOC or MFish. Visit the following pages to find out more:

When visiting the reserve

Road access is by 4WD only.

Leave your domestic animals at home. They are not allowed in the reserve, as they disturb the wildlife.

All plant and animal life in the reserve is totally protected.

No fishing or shellfish gathering from either shore or boat is allowed.

Nothing that is naturally occurring can be removed from the reserve - this includes sand, shells, feathers and rocks.

Explore the rock pools, but put any rocks you turn over back in their original position. This will help protect the plant and animals living on and under them.
