Monitoring of lobsters using diver transects first occurred in 2000 and re-measured in 2002. During both monitoring events more lobsters were counted inside the marine reserve than outside. In 2002, abundance within the reserve was approximately seven times greater than non-reserve areas (8.7 lobsters/ 250 m2 inside MR compared to 1.25 lobsters/ 250 m2 outside marine reserve. The average size of lobsters inside the reserve was also significantly larger than outside the reserve.
