Conserving and managing historic heritage

Our heritage is at risk! Our heritage is what makes New Zealand unique, it is part of who we are. We need to take action to preserve our historic and cultural heritage.

  • An old wooden cottage being slowly demolished through neglect.
An old wooden cottage slowly collapsing

Fabric rots away or gets destroyed - we need to preserve it
  • Stories are lost or forgotten - we need to collect and archive them
  • Culture changes - we need to connect people to our history or they won't care

Only by conserving and managing historic heritage are we able to pass things we value on to the next generation (that's our children). It is part of who they are and will help them know where they come from.
