The Motueka Area manages the area from the Rai Saddle in the east through Nelson City and to Kahurangi and Abel Tasman National Parks in the west. Significant conservation areas are:
- The western side of Mt Richmond Forest Park from Cape Soucis to the Red Hills;
- The central part of Kahurangi National Park being Mt Owen, Wangapeka, Karamea River and Mt Arthur/Tableland;
- The southern half of Abel Tasman National Park;
- Tonga Island Marine Reserve and Horoirangi Marine Reserve.
