David Round

David Round is a sixth generation South Islander, whose pioneer forebears have contributed to the rich history of the south since 1842. 

He has many years experience as a University lecturer in environmental law, land law, legal history and philosophy.

He is a past long-serving member and chair of the North Canterbury Branch of the Royal Forest and Bird Protection Society, and the Christchurch branch of Native Forests Action Council (NFAC) later the Maruia Society.  He has also had several years experience as chairman and secretary of the Port Levy Residents Association.

David is a long serving member of the National Executive of Federated Mountain Clubs (FMS) and has served three years as national president. 

He is Member of the Port Levy/Koukourarata Mataitai Management Committee and a Trustee of the Maurice White Native Forest Trust (Hinewai Reserve). David is also a trustee of the Maerewhenua Trust and the Canterbury section of Te Araroa/The Long Walkway Trust. 

He is a keen tramper and has been a member of the Canterbury University Club since circa 1970.
