Biodiversity in NZ

The New Zealand Biodiversity Strategy website outlines the current state of New Zealand's biodiversity, and the Government's actions to prevent its decline. The site describes initiatives to research and protect New Zealand's marine biodiversity, and important introduced biodiversity.

It also provides links to legislation, international agreements and information resources on New Zealand's flora and fauna. It is the home of the Terrestrial and Freshwater Biodiversity Information System (TFBIS) programme and provides information on the Biodiversity Condition and Advice Funds.

The website is administered by the Department of Conservation on behalf of the four main government agencies responsible for the New Zealand Biodiversity Strategy. These are Department of Conservation (lead agency), Ministry of Fisheries, Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, and Ministry for the Environment.
