Judge releases decision into aircraft landings at Milford Aerodrome
Date: 19 March 2008
The Department of Conservation's proposed process to allocate landings at Milford Aerodrome has overcome a challenge by Alpine Choppers Limited of predetermination.
In a decision released by Justice Young it was found that the allocation process was based on logical and established criteria.
Last year Alpine Choppers Limited lodged an appeal citing a flawed process and sought a review of the Minister of Conservation's decision not to accept the company's late expression of interest for landing opportunities at Milford Aerodrome.
Despite Alpine Choppers Limited coming in late, the judge has allowed for the company to express its interest to land at Milford. Alpine Choppers Limited will now enter the competitive process along with other operators.
Acting Murihiku area manager Sarah Dowie said the department was now working through the judgement and what it will mean for the allocation process.
