Clements Mill Road closure and limited access

Date: 12 February 2008

Repairs to culverts on Clements Mill Road in the northern Kaimanawa Forest Park means that the road will be closed 7km from the access point from 3 March 2008. The work is expected to take up to five days. DOC hopes the work will begin on time and weather permitting will be completed by 7 March. The road is a popular access route for hunters and trampers.

"We've planned the work to happen prior to the roar and to Easter," says Terry Slee, DOC's Visitor Assets Programme Manager. "We want the closure to cause the least disruption to the public as possible."

Mr Slee says that anyone using Clements Mill Road to access the Kaimanawas before 3 March needs to be aware that their vehicle could become trapped, particularly if they intend to stay in the park for any length of time.

Access to the Te Iringa track on Clements Mill Road will not be affected.
